چکیده
Age-Although their ages ranged from five to thirteen years (average ten years), twenty-six of the children were aged nine years or older. Sex-There were eighteen boys and sixteen girls. Site of fracture-In seventeen cases the fracture was three to four millimetres distal to the epiphysial plate, representing a true fracture of the neck of the radius (Fig. 1). In seventeen cases the injury was a Type II fracture-separation of the proximal radial epiphysis (Salter and Harris 1963) (Fig. 2). Displacement-This was measured as the alteration from the horizontal of the superior articular surface of the head of the radius. In three cases displacement was minor (15-29

Elastic stable intramedullary nail fixation for severely displaced fractures of the neck of the radius in children.
Several techniques are available for the treatment of displaced fractures of the neck of the radius in children. We report our experience in 14 children treated by indirect reduction and fixation using an elastic stable intramedullary nail. The patients were followed up for a mean of 28 months. One developed asymptomatic avascular necrosis. The rest had excellent results. One had a neuropraxia ...
متن کاملSurgical management of displaced fractures neck of the radius in children: open reduction and temporary internal fixation in whom closed reduction has failed
Introduction: Pediatric radial neck fractures account for 5 to 10% of all elbow fractures [1, . The treatment of radial neck fractures in children varies according to the displacement, angulation, and skeletal maturity. Today open reduction is reserved for comminuted fractures and cases where closed reduction has failed. The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate the outcome of open ...
متن کاملFishtail deformity as a result of a non-displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus.
Fishtail deformity is a very rare complication of undisplaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children. We report the case of a 10-year old girl presenting with pain in the right elbow eight years after a non-displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus. Radiographs also demonstrated necrosis of the lateral part of the trochlea and of the head of the radius. With this long-term cli...

متن کاملRadial Neck Fractures in Children: Results When Open Reduction Is Indicated
BACKGROUND Radial neck fractures in children are rare, representing 5% of all elbow pediatric fractures. Most are minimally displaced or nondisplaced. Severely displaced or angulated radial neck fractures often have poor outcomes, even after open reduction, and case series reported in literature are limited. The aim of the study is to analyze the outcomes of patients with a completely displaced...
